INTANGIBLE WASTES

Located in Lenin Square, exactly in the centre of the city, the name of this one “Energetik” is a play on words as it means both “energetik” (as in lively) and “power plant worker”. This impressive community center were constructed as a focal point for people to enjoy lots of activities, including cinemas, theater, library, swimming pool, boxing ring and lots of meeting halls – the same way it was originally builted in Russia, during the soviet era. The first photo was taken in early 1986’s. The second one, is mine, 27 years after. Once known as a vigorous meeting point, now it’s decline symbolizes all that was left by the actions of time.
